MAPLE CUSTARD Serves 4 Recipe from Approx. Cooking Time 45 minutes |
1 egg 2 egg whites 1/2 teaspoon maple flavoring A pinch of sea salt 1 3/4 cups of very warm low-fat milk 4 teaspoons maple flavored syrup 1/4 teaspoon vanilla |
| Heat oven to 350. Beat egg, egg whites, sugar and other ingredients except milk together in bowl. Gradually stir in the milk by hand. Pour into four 6 ounce custard cups. Drop 1 teaspoon of maple syrup into the center of each cup. Place the cups on a baking pan that is at least 2 inches deep in middle of oven. Pour boiling water into the pan within 1/2 of the top of the cups. Bake about 45 minutes or until a knife inserted comes out clean. Remove cups from water/pvern, let stand 15 minutes. Unmold, serve warm or refrigerate to serve cold. |
