Has Time Magazine Published An Inaccurate Article On Aspartame?
You Be The Judge For The Reaons Why?

On Oct. 20th, 2009, Time Magazine online published an article by a Clarie Suddath concerning aspartame.

Are Artificial Sweeteners Really That Bad for You?
By Claire Suddath
http://www.time.com/time/health/article/0,8599,1931116,00.html

In case Time has taken it down, CLICK HERE to read it in .pdf form.

This article is the most inacccurate and biased article written in favor of the aspartame and artificial sweetener industry that I have ever read. Where did this journalist get her facts?

This article was published right after my last column on Leading Journalists Expose Major Cover-ups in Media. If you have not read it, I strongly suggest you do and purchase the book, Into The Buzzsaw. Into The Buzzsaw

The book is available at AMAZON.COM

The aspartame industry uses its influence because of advertsing dollars they spend with publications to put out inaccurate information such as in this article. Aspartame is deadly, despite the poor research of this writer, or was it poor research and not just something put out to serve the aspartame industry.

Below is an email and letter that I have sent to the Editors of Time Magazine and the the Chairman of the Board and CEO's of Time Warner, the parent company of Time Magazine. Also the President and CEO of Time Magazine. Their address are listed below is you also care to write a letter about this travesty of poor journalism. My email and letter probably will not have any influence on what Time has so grossly allowed to be reported, but at least you know the truth, for Truth Is What Matters! That is why I ask you to also write a letter and just maybe if these publications get enough letters hitting them about such poor journalism concerning aspartame, they will stop putting out this garbage. The link to this grossly inaccurate article is listed below, I provide it for pure amuzement reading. In my email and letter, I list the many facts and truth that this journalist failed to report on.

The following is the email and letters I have sent to Time Magazine concerning Ms. Saddath's aspartame article.

Dear Time Magazine and Editors:

An article you have published on Time.Com:

Are Artificial Sweeteners Really That Bad for You?
By Claire Suddath
http://www.time.com/time/health/article/0,8599,1931116,00.html

This article is the most inacccurate and biased article written in favor of the aspartame and artificial sweetener industry that I have ever read. Where did this journalist get her facts?

Since 1996, I have been writing about the dangers of aspartame and the last few years about the dangers of Spenda.

Searle, the inventor and patent holder of aspartame own PAID 52 week study in Oct. 1972 was seriously flawed and was denouced by scientists at the FDA. It is listed on my website at: dldewey.com/asparstu.htm In their own report on page 3214, it states, "Animals were not available for sacrifice and necropsy at the termination of compound adminstration, due to a shortage of personnel and supervision following Dr. Waisman's death." Yet, this study was used as the basis for the approval of aspartame against the objections of FDA scientists at the time.

Furthermore, Ms. Saddath failed to state that there are over (90) other research studies NOT funded nor sponsored by the aspartame industry which prove without doubt how toxic this chemical is. Those studies are listed on my website at: dldewey.com/asparst1.htm

You can read my entire column on aspartame, originally written in 1996 which has been continously updated through the years with the latest research and findings on my website at:

The article may not be copied into newsgroups or emails, or copied onto another website.

My column on aspartame is based on FACT and not rumors or disinformation which Ms. Suddath claims caused all the hysteria about aspartame in 1995 and 1996. Ms. Saddath needs to read my column on asparatme to educate herself of the facts concerning aspartame.

Sweet Poison In addition, Dr. Janet Hull has written about aspartame in her book, Sweet Poison. sweetpoison.com

Dr. Hull is an aspartame victim herself. Her aspartame expertise is based on her professional background. She holds a Doctorate in Nutrition, a Master's Degree in Environmental Science, is an international geographer and geologist, a former university professor, firefighter and Hazardous Waste Specialist and Emergency Responder. She is a Licensed Certified Nutritionist, certified fitness professional and author. Dr. Hull's diverse background supports her unique approach to contemporary nutritional issues. She has dedicated the past ten years to sharing with others her life-threatening experience and natural recovery from aspartame poisoning.

And Splenda, let me clarify that for Ms. Saddath with the facts!

Splenda®: Is It Safe Or Not Dr. Hull has also written the book, Splenda®: Is It Safe or Not? issplendasafe.com

What is the chemical makeup of Splenda®?

Sucralose also known as Splenda® is synthesized by this five-step process:

So sucralose becomes a low-calorie sugar with a complicated process that results in Splenda’s® chemical formula:

1,6-dichloro-1,6-dideoxy-BETA-D-fructofuranosyl-4-chloro-4-deoxy-alpha-D-galactopyranoside.

This is Splenda®. You are basically consuming chlorine! By the way, Toulene is a known carciogenic agent. Do you now want to ingest it?

And let's not forget Mary Nash Stoddard and Washington D.C. Attorney Jim Turner.

Aspartame Consumer Safety Network

Ms. Stoddard was the person that first alerted Consumers about this deadly chemical. Stoddard's and Turner's network and articles and website, Aspartame Consumer Safety Network, aspartamesafety.com have been educating consumers about aspartame since 1987. Stoddard also wrote "Deadly Deception - Story of Aspartame", a toxicology sourcebook, edited by Ms. Stoddard. The book was the first book written about the dangers of aspartame. The book documents the harmful effects of the world's most toxic artificial sweetener. The 250 page toxicology sourcebook is endorsed by doctors, scientists, medical reporters and mentioned by Dr. Robert Atkins on his radio show in New York. The companion one hour "Deadly Deception" video is further documentation - taped at a prestigious scientific conference. Stoddard also did several CBS 60 Minutes programs with Mike Wallace in 1986 about the dangers of aspartame.

There is also Carol Guilford, cookbook author who has been telling people about the dangers of aspartame in her cookbooks for years. Carol will be releasing a new cookbook in the coming months as well. There is also Shirley Allison, a media relations networker who has been researching and sending out research studies about aspartame for over 15 years.

There is also Cori Brackett.

Cori BrackettIf you have not watched Cori Bracket''s documentary, Sweet Misery about her own experience with aspartame and how she recovered from MS, then I strongly suggest you do. Sweet Misery was released by Cori and her husband in June of 2004. Their primary investigation includes interviews with doctors, lawyers, people who have had health probems which they associate with aspartame usage, advocates, and many others. The website is: http://www.soundandfury.tv/pages/sweet%20misery.html

You can view a trailer about the documentary here:

Here is just one of over 90 research studies not funded or sponsored by the aspartame industry that shows the toxic effect of aspartame. This study shows tha aspartame has a negative effect on genes, showing it alters the genes in various animal organs when any amount is ingested. Hello folks, it alters the DNA! Just think what it is doing to human DNA.

A gene study performed in Hungary, and reported in:
In Vivo. 2007 Jan-Feb;21(1):89-92.

The Effect of Aspartame Administration On
Oncogene and Suppressor Gene Expressions

BACKGROUND:

Aspartame (L-phenylalanineN-L-alpha-aspartyl-1-methyl ester) is an artificial sweetener with wide spread applications. Previously published results have shown that among rats receiving aspartame a significant increase of lymphoreticular neoplasms, brain tumours and transitional cell tumors occurred. The aim of our short-term experiment was to investigate the biological effect of aspartame consumption by determining the expressions of key oncogenes and a tumour suppressor gene.

MATERIALS AND METHODS:

After one week per of administration of various doses of aspartame to CBA/CA female mice, p53, c-myc, Ha-ras gene expression alterations were determined in individual organs.

RESULTS:

The results showed an increase in gene expressions concerning all the investigated genes especially in organs with a high proliferation rate: lymphoreticular organs, bone-marrow and kidney.

CONCLUSION:

Aspartame has a biological effect even at the recommended daily maximum dose.

In addition, Ms. Saddath in her Time Magazine article failed to mention the Ramazzini Institute studies. Not one, but two studies show that aspartame is cargiogenic.

Confirms Aspartame Is Carcinogenic

Ms. Saddath's article is not only an insult to me, but an insult to those of us that I have mentioned above who are credible professionals who have been educating consumers on this deadly toxic chemical for years.

In addition, in 1996 I was the first journalist to warn consumers on the dangers of hydrogenated oils. I have continously updated that article since with the latest research through the years. For a number of years, I was harrassed by the food corporation industry and called a lunatic. My name was injured by the major food corporations. But who has the last laugh now.

Hydrogenated Oils-Silent Killers dldewey.com/hydroil.htm

In addition, a documentary entitled InGREEDients, was released in July of this year. I was the Content, Creative and Journalistic Consultant on the film and worked with Director, David Burton of Sir Rebel Films on the film. I also appear in the film. You can read about it on my website at: dldewey.com/ingreed.htm and also on the movie's website for it at: ingreedientsmovie.com There is a huge following on FACEBOOK and the film has already won three film awards at film festivals. This film shows the deadly health effects of hydrogenated oils still in our food supply and other toxins that need to be taken completely out of our food supply.

To correctly set the record straight and to report the real truth and facts about aspartame, I expect Time Magazine to devote space in your magazine to correct a travesty of poor reporting by stating the true facts that I have written you about and by writing a correct comprehensive article about those of us that have been battling this coverup of aspartame for 15 years that will include our work and the facts and truth about how deadly aspartame is to the human body.

I will also be writing a letter via snail mail and sending a copy of this email to:

Chairman and CEO, Jeff Bewkes of Time Warner, your parent company and Ann S. Moore, your President and CEO at Time Magazine.

I am also sending a copy of this email to Dr. Janet Hull, Mary Stoddard, Carol Gilford, Shirley Allison and Cori Brackett. I will also be publishing this email on my website with a link to Ms. Suddath's most inaccurate article to show how Time Magazine does not report on the truth and facts, but allows articles to be written that are clearly sponsored by the aspartame industry for profit. I will also be sending a copy of this email to my thousands of subscribers who subscribe to my special newsletters I send out.

I used to admire Time Magazine for its' unbiased truthful reporting and articles, I can no longer say that about Time after reading this article by Ms. Saddath.

Time Magazine in affect, by allowing such an article to be written and published will cause people to think that aspartame is safe which will lead them to serious health problems.

Shame on you Time Magazine, you have angered and insulted those of us who know the true facts about aspartame. Ms. Saddath surely does not.

Oh, before I forget. There are several studies that do show that artificial sweetners do indeed cause obesity.

It will be most interesting to see how you respond to this letter.
